Text: Psalm
11
CLINGING TO POWERFUL TRUTHS
We have many weapons we can wield against the most powerful of wicked foes!
Let us draw fresh encouragement and strength from the following Word.
"The Lord is in His holy temple,
The Lord's throne is in heaven;
His eyes behold,
His eyelids test the sons of men."
Psalm 11:4
1.
God is still on His throne
This is a powerful truth we would do well to hide deep in our hearts! He is
Sovereign over heaven and earth. He is the "possessor of heaven and
earth" (Genesis 14:19). Evil cannot prevail, no matter how arrogantly
it struts!
2.
God still watches over the affairs of men
As King, the Lord will watch over His kingdom. Nothing escapes His eyes. This
is a glorious truth that will enable us to remain calm in our souls!
3.
God still tests the sons of men
God is not passive in His watch over mankind. He will test the hearts of men.
He who has the prerogative to test men must be greater in every sense of the
word! Why should there be fear of mortal men?
4.
God is still in His holy temple
He will be found by those who worship Him. He will not disappoint any who puts
his faith and trust in Him!
These are great and powerful truths! When we cling to these glorious truths, we will be able to stare down any enemy!
GOD'S
REGARD OF THE WICKED
How would God deal with the wicked? The psalmist draws comfort in the thought
that God would judge them righteously one day.
"The Lord tests the righteous,
But the wicked and the one who loves violence
His soul hates."
Psalm 11:5
1.
God is only testing the righteous
Are we faced with evil? Let us remember that God is merely testing us! Let us
pass every test He sets for us.
2.
God hates the wicked and the violent
This is a fundamental truth! We need not fear the wicked nor the violent! If
God hates the wicked and will judge them, why should we fear them?
